We teach circularity, but how to understand circularity as something outside resistance full loop models? The fashion industry claims circularity is possible through regenerating fibers. What might that entail from a design or from a manufacturing perspective? And how can we influence the recovery process through design?

In this project, students are asked to get their hand on secondhand clothes to become waste , to then cut it all up. Following that, the students then must mechanically break down textiles, from which they then need to design new fibers.. This raises the challenge of how garment needs to be designed for circular regeneration in the first place.

The exercise helps students to think in a systemic and sustainable way about the role of the designer, regeneration of textile and form development in the fashion industry
